Tootsie
An iconic American brand, Tootsie was started way back in 1896 in New York by Leo Hirschfield, who invented the classic Tootsie Roll and named it after his daughter (Tootsie, we assume, not Roll).
Hirschfield was famous for being a patriotic supporter of the US armed forces, and Tootsie Rolls were even part of an American’s field rations during World War II, giving a handy boost of glucose energy when needed. Which was, presumably, often.
They now manufacture all manner of sweet treats but still frequently stick to their roots with the original classic design.
