Big Red

Big Red was created in 1937 by some guys in Texas by the names of Grover Thomsen and R H Roark. It’s a cream soda; if you want to be technical (thanks, Wikipedia) it’s a blue cream soda – confusing, ‘cos the cans are red. Originally called Sun Tang Red Cream Soda, the name was changed to Big Red Soda in 1963 after someone at the company heard a golf caddy refer to it as such. We suspect that the golf caddy did not get any money for this. We’ve just got one of Big Red drinks at the moment but fear not, we have sworn a solemn oath to bring you, the good people of the UK more flavours.

A word on nomenclature, soda of course is just the American word for fizzy drinks or fizzy pop. We prefer ‘bubbly thirst go away liquid’ but that’s just us.

It’s very popular in the southern states of the USA, and it’s flavour is likened to bubble gum but is actually lemon and orange oils with pure vanilla.  And it’s NOT owned by the Coca Cola Company!  But give it time.
