General Mills
General Mills is one of those companies that you may not have heard of but they have a number of brands which will certainly be familiar. Let’s just say “Häagen-Dazs” for example. Yes, the ice-cream that sounds Swiss or something – it’s from Minnesota. Formed in 1928 by the merging of the Washburn-Crosby Company (a big mill) with three other mills, which is why their name basically means “a bunch of mills”.
They have, in their time, made high-altitude balloons, a submersible that was used to investigate The Titanic, they own Play-Doh, the Red Lobster restaurant chain, they owned the company that made Monopoly board games, they make pet products. Can’t help but think that they should change their name to “General General”.
Oh no!
