Maynards
Maynards are famous for wine gums, of course. And rightly so, Maynards (in some form or another) have been making sweets since 1880, originally in the kitchen of their home in Hackney for sale in their shop next door. Maynards wine gums were introduced in 1909, under the strict understanding that they would contain no alcohol as Charles Maynard was a strict teetotal Methodist.
Fun fact: The grandson of Charles Maynard was Kenneth Maynard Wood, who co-founded the kitchen appliance company Kenwood.
