Mountain Dew

Mountain Dew drinks (aka Mtn Dew in some areas, for an unknown and probably stupid reason to do with texting) are a classic American soft drink invented in Tennessee, where, fortunately, there are actually some mountains, or we could be really withering at this point – in 1940.
For some forty years, there was only one Mountain Dew, which was the citrus one not usually available in the UK, and to be fair, it’s delicious. They’ve started pushing the boat out a little, including Mountain Dew energy drinks infused with caffeine, and bottles of soda in frankly a dazzling array of flavours and every luminous colour you can imagine.
A bit of trivia for you, if you like that kind of thing; in 2008, Doritos introduced a mystery flavour called “Quest” in the USA with a series of online puzzles with prizes to try to identify the taste.  Turns out the crisps were Mountain Dew flavour. Sounds horrible, and don’t ask; we’ve tried, you can’t get them anymore.
Whether Mountain Dew drinks are vegetarian/vegan is a little contested (we’ll let you Google it), generally considered halal and gluten and dairy-free.
